(on last Thursday and Friday, 6/21 and 6/22)
“It’s raining!” What?? Raining in Zambia during the dry
season? Yes indeed. On Thursday I experienced rain (in a sense) for the first
time. Water and mist falling from the sky like rain. I stood in the middle of
our walk on the trial across from Victoria Falls in amazement. I could see
neither the beginning, nor the end, nor the bottom of the falls but only part
of the top for so great was the grandeur and mist… so much water falls off the
falls that a great amount of mist / water is kicked up, such that it rains /
mists … Visiting the falls was a great experience, experiencing a piece of the
majesty and power of God through his creation.
In addition to visiting the falls in Livingstone we also
visited Mosi-o-tunya National Park there. The park is a fairly large area of natural
African Safari Wilderness in which animals wander freely. We drove around and
saw a great variety of animals, a highlight of which was our journey on foot
through the safari with a park ranger to 15-20 meters away from a Rhino.
Bungee jumping… it was a great experience. I would recommend
it. Letting go and jumping off the edge in faith trusting God, a nice metaphor…
Being surrounded by beauty, and diving about 110 meters down into a rainbow
that formed a complete circle. It was enjoyable, frightening, exciting… I’m
glad I did it; it is good to face fears.
At Livingstone we were blessed to see beauty of African
nature of God’s creation, as well as enjoy some good team time before our team
split ways.
